On May 13, a man injured in a collision with an AT&T truck received a $370,000 settlement. In 2006, Philip Robey claimed he was driving near Pearland when an AT&T vehicle, which was driven by employee William Andrews, made an illegal U-turn and struck his pickup. He sustained two herniated disks, and his doctors said he will need fusion surgery in the future. Robey, a landscaper, missed about six weeks of work and hasn’t been able to return to full duty because he has difficulty lifting objects. The defendants argued that Robey failed to keep a proper lookout and that his injuries weren’t as severe as he claimed. The parties agreed to the settlement before trial.
