Passing the Texas bar exam is the last official hurdle that law school graduates must overcome to obtain a license to practice law in Texas. More than 300 Texas law school graduates who sat for the Texas exam for the first time in February successfully passed that hurdle, according to the Texas Board of Legal Examiners (BLE).

Among the 422 Texas law school graduates who sat for the February 2009 exam, 344 or 81.52 percent passed. This is a lower percentage passing rate than the 85.01 percent (312 of 367 Texas graduates) who were first-time test-takers in February 2008.
