Many probationers and parolees in Texas are out of luck if they want to make a quick trip outside the state. After a Texas assistant attorney general met with the Judicial Advisory Council in April to advise the council on judges' liability if they grant temporary travel permits to persons under supervision in this state, judges around the state began curtailing out-of-state travel by probationers and parolees. Senior Judge Larry Gist is chairman of the council.
