Lori Chambers Gray, presiding judge of the 262nd District Court in Houston, is running against a criminal defense attorney and former prosecutor in her bid for a second term.

Tonya Rolland McLaughlin began her career in 2006 as an assistant district attorney in Harris County. She left that office in 2009 to start her own criminal law practice. She is a member of the Houston Bar Association, the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association, and the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
