James Lombardino, a former Harris County district court judge, hopes to return to the bench by taking the County Court-at-Law 1 seat, but to achieve this the Republican must unseat the incumbent, Audrie Lawton-Evans.

Lawton-Evans has served as an assistant attorney general in the Texas Office of Attorney General Civil Litigation Division, an assistant disciplinary counsel at the State Bar of Texas, and a special prosecutor with the Special Prosecution Unit of Texas.
