Maritza Antu, appointed to the 482nd District Court in October 2021, will have to defend the seat against Harris County staff attorney Veronica Nelson.
Antu, a McAllen native and 20-year Houston resident, boasts having slashed the court backlog from 2,444 to 1,340 cases in her first eight months. In the same period, Antu reduced the trial docket from 191 to 27 cases.
