The 185th District Court runoff pits the incumbent and only sitting Asian American on a Harris County felony criminal court bench against a child-homicide prosecutor.

Judge Jason Luong became the first Vietnamese-American elected to a countywide office in Harris County when he assumed office Jan. 1, 2019. However, Luong managed to capture only 33.56% of the vote in the March 1 primary. His runoff opponent, Andrea Beall, held a 44.86% share.
