Starting in the New Year, Houston appellate litigator April Farris will have a new roles: as justices on the First Court of Appeals.

Farris, a partner in YetterColeman, will start in January after Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday appointed her both to the bench. She will serve through Dec. 31, 2022, or until a successor is elected to the position, said a statement by Abbott’s office.
