The jury has returned its verdict in the first of what’s sure to be many patent infringement trials before U.S. District Judge Alan Albright in the Western District of Texas. While the judge’s early trial dates and approach to patent eligibility have been a magnet for patentees, jurors had a cool welcome for patentee MV3 Partners and its $41 million claim against Roku Inc.

The seven-member panel found that neither Roku Players nor Roku TVs infringed any of MV3 partners’ eight asserted patent claims on a mobile set top box for streaming media. Roku’s lead trial attorney, Oblon, McClelland, Maier & Neustadt partner Alexander Hadjis, offered some thoughts on the trial here.
