Haynes and Boone opened an office Friday in an area north of Houston known as The Woodlands—home to several energy clients.
The office is the 16th for the firm. Litigation partner Craig Stahl has been named administrative partner of the new office, and others working there include Bill McDonald, a corporate lawyer with clients in the energy and oilfield services industries; Jeff Kuehnle, an energy litigation partner; and counsel Emmie Gooch.
Shahl, Kuehnle, and Gooch joined Haynes and Boone last year, coming from Andrews Kurth Keynon (now Hunton Andrews Kurth). In February, McDonald also left Andrews Kurth to join Haynes and Boone in Houston.
Stahl previously worked at Andrews Kurth’s office in The Woodlands, and jumped to Haynes and Boone with the understanding that it, too, would open an office in the area. For the past nine months, he has been commuting to downtown Houston, however, and said he is excited to cut an hour off his normal commute.
“It’s truly adding 10 extra hours a week” to his life, Stahl said.
All of the lawyers in the new office live in or near The Woodlands.
Stahl declined to identify the firm’s clients in The Woodlands. But a number of big corporations and energy and oil field services companies are located in the area, including Chevron Phillips Chemical, Anadarko Petroleum, Baker Hughes, Exxon Mobil, Halliburton, and Southwestern Energy.
Stahl said clients like the fact that they are close by.
In addition to Hunton Andrews Kurth, other large firms with offices in The Woodlands include Winstead, Jones Walker, and Steptoe & Johnson.
