Plaintiff claiming considerable soft-tissue injuries gets $23K

On Aug. 13, A jury awarded $23,000 to a woman who claimed extensive and persistent soft-tissue injuries in a rear-ender. Nia Kin was struck by David Bowman. He did not strongly dispute negligence, but did say he slammed on his brakes and was unable to avoid the accident. King claimed neck, lower back, right shoulder, left and right wrist, left knee and left and right ankle injuries, as well as headaches and throbbing in her ears. She said she was told that MRIs showed soft-tissue damage in her ankles and wrists and that a ligament in her right shoulder was stretched. She was told that one MRI showed “double whiplash” and that it might take two years for her to fully recover.
