Instead of popping the cork on a bottle of champagne or dining at a fancy restaurant with his wife to celebrate his promotion to shareholder in Cox Smith Matthews, Aaron Kaufman went for a five-mile run in a drenching rain.

Kaufman said he was training for a half marathon, and wanted to get in a run regardless of the weather. He said the unconventional way he spent the hours after he learned of his promotion last December is not to discount the importance of his accomplishment. He said making shareholder is as weighty as graduating from college, but, perhaps, not as momentous as passing the bar exam.
