A federal judge in Washington on Friday refused to order the public disclosure of the memos former FBI Director James Comey wrote memorializing conversations with President Donald Trump about the Russia investigation.
Several nonprofits and news organizations, including CNN sued the U.S. Justice Department to force the disclosure of the memos after the government declined to grant their requests under the Freedom of Information Act. The Justice Department argued the release of the memos would interfere with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election.
