Following a merger, one of the first goals of the new company is solidifying its executive board. But perhaps different from many merging companies in the legal technology space, the new CEO of the merged Actiance and Smarsh isn’t the former CEO of either company.

On June 7, Smarsh announced that Brian Cramer, former Smarsh president and chief operating officer, is taking the position of chief executive officer of the combined company. Former Smarsh CEO and founder Stephen Marsh is taking the role of chairman of the board at the combined company, while former Actiance CEO Kailash Ambwani is listed on LinkedIn as a member of the company’s board of directors.
