A wave of unionization in the digital media sector driven by millennial workers has labor attorneys buzzing—along with employers, labor strategists and even Wall Street. The biggest question is, will it motivate millennials in other industries to follow suit and rock the workplace world?

Organizers from the Writers Guild of America East have been on a hot streak, with workers at MTV News and Group Nine popular lifestyle site Thrillist declaring last month. And on Thursday, The Intercept, an investigative journalism site, recognized the union as the collective bargaining representative of its 32-member staff.
