A new study by LexisNexis shows that firms of 11 to 20 lawyers are the most effective at turning the workday into billable hours, while larger firms are lagging behind.

The efficiency ratio — hours billed as a percentage of hours worked — was 92 percent at firms of that size, compared with a 77 percent average at all the firms surveyed.
