The trustees and staff of Education Law Center welcome retired New Jersey Supreme Court Justice Gary Stein to the ELC Board of Trustees. Stein, who served with distinction on New Jersey’s highest court from January 1985 to September 2002, joined the ELC Board in September. Stein, who is currently special counsel at the Hackensack-based law firm Pashman Stein, wrote more than 365 published opinions during his tenure on the Supreme Court, the sixth longest in the court’s history. Prior to joining the court, Stein was director of the governor’s Office of Policy and Planning from 1982 to 1985 under Gov. Thomas Kean. His extensive resume includes serving as Paramus Borough Attorney and counsel to the New Jersey Election Law Revision Commission. He is a former counsel to the Teaneck Board of Adjustment, former chairperson of the Bergen County District Ethics Committee and former chairperson of the Supreme Court Committee on Complementary Dispute Resolution.

Litigator Appointed Trustee to Union County Bar Association

Stacey Edelbaum Boretz, has been appointed to serve as a trustee to the Union County Bar Association (UCBA) for the 2015-16 term. She has also been selected to serve on the District XII Fee Arbitration Committee for Union County from September 2015 to September 2019 by appointment of the New Jersey Supreme Court. Boretz has been active in the Union County Bar Association for a number of years. She is a member of the association’s Activities Committee and has participated as a judge in the county’s mock trial competition for the last several years. The mock trial competition is held for Union County high school students as part of the association’s efforts to educate young people about the civil justice system. Boretz has been a litigator for 29 years and has concentrated her practice in the area of employment law, civil and commercial litigation.
