The Newark Municipal Court and the city of Newark have been sued in federal court for allegedly failing to provide a deaf litigant with an American Sign Language interpreter during two traffic ticket hearings.

Plaintiff Chinedu Ibrahim Ali alleges in his complaint, filed Nov. 25 in federal court in Newark, that a municipal court employee told him an interpreter would be provided to him at the first hearing, scheduled for 4 p.m. July 21.
