Legal Services of Northwest Jersey, Inc. (LSNWJ) announced the election of its officers for 2015: President Mary Ellen Koscs-Fleming; Vice President Allan Iskra; Treasurer Jane Herchenroder; and Secretary Diane Margolin. Former president, Patrick Collins, will serve in the office of past president. The board officers were voted in at the Dec. 11, 2014, meeting at its offices in Somerville. LSNWJ provides legal assistance in civil matters affecting essential needs to low-income people residing in northwestern New Jersey. The work of LSNWJ enables people to maintain affordable housing and sustainable income, access health care and escape domestic violence. Last year, LSNWJ provided legal assistance to more than 8,000 people, including 2,700 children. The essential needs of more than 80 percent of the households assisted by LSNWJ were met. Rutgers Asian-Pacific Law Students Honor Roger Lai

Cooper Levenson’s Roger Lai was honored for outstanding achievements and distinguished service to the New Jersey Asian Pacific American community at the 15th Annual Lunar Banquet, held Feb. 13 at the Ocean Harbor Restaurant in Philadelphia. The banquet is a program of the Rutgers-Camden Asian-Pacific American Law Students Association, and is held in celebration of the Lunar New Year. Lai is an attorney in Cooper Levenson’s Atlantic City office. He works with the defense litigation practice group and handles complex civil litigation of all types. Lai was installed as the 83rd president of the Burlington County Bar Association in June 2014, the first Asian American to serve in this role.
