A federal judge in Camden denied a motion by professional gambler Phil Ivey Jr. to dismiss a fraud and racketeering suit claiming he used an “edge-sorting” scheme to win $9.6 million playing baccarat at the Borgata casino.

The Borgata’s claims for fraud, conspiracy and racketeering against Ivey and a companion, Cheng Yin Sun, were pleaded sufficiently to survive a motion to dismiss, U.S. District Judge Noel Hillman of the District of New Jersey ruled March 13.
