A New Jersey judge has ruled that a town could ask voters whether it should continue sending its high school students to another town or end that arrangement to save costs.

Hudson County Superior Court Assignment Judge Peter Bariso Jr. said there is nothing improper about allowing the East Newark, N.J., Borough Council to put a public question on the ballot asking voters if they believe the borough’s high school students should be sent to school in another town.
