In the early 1990s, Chinese companies started to launch on the international capital markets, with the United States being one of the most-favored destinations. More than a decade has passed since then, a period that has seen many ups and downs with Chinese companies’ U.S. financings and listings.

Despite the haunting uncertainties and concerns caused by last September’s New M&A Rules,[FOOTNOTE 1] discussed below, up to early May 2007, six new Chinese companies had already listed on NASDAQ and four on the NYSE. The latest Chinese offering LDK Solar (LDK) filed with the SEC on May 11, 2007 and is waiting to ring the bell of the NYSE.
