The New York State Board of Law Examiners announced today that grading has been completed for the February 2008 bar examination. The Board examined 3,589 candidates during the recent examination. The passing rate for all candidates, including U.S. domestic-educated and foreign-educated candidates, first-time and repeat takers, was 49.5% and represents a 5.3% increase over the results on the February 2007 bar examination.

The passing rate for candidates who took the bar examination for the first-time was 64.1%. The passing rate for graduates of ABA approved law schools who took the examination for the first- time was 76.3%. The passing rate for foreign educated candidates who took the examination for the first-time was 43.1%.
