Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., has received more contributions from the lobbying industry than any other presidential candidate — and nearly twice as much as money as Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., the contender who is second on the list — says the Center for Responsive Politics.
The center calculates that Clinton received $823,087, compared with McCain’s $416,321, according to year-end reports filed with the FEC. Two Republicans — former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, who has dropped out of the race, and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney — are third and fourth on the list. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, is last, with $201 in lobbying contributions during the 2008 election cycle.
