Three Massachusetts men recently received a lot more than prison terms for their drug offenses � they were told to stay out of their home county for up to 12 years after their release. Lawyers said such "exile" or banishment sentences are rare, but judges in several states have handed them out in recent months. Mark Shea, who represents one of the Massachusetts defendants, called the sentence "disgusting," and said the penalty of 10 years of imprisonment is harsh enough.
