During a Tuesday hearing on proposed rule changes being considered by the New Jersey Supreme Court, State Bar Association past president Wayne Positan said New Jersey should join 32 other states that allow unfettered multijurisdictional practice. Positan said the strictures put New Jersey lawyers at a competitive disadvantage in an era of multistate firms with practices that cross state lines. Though New Jersey relaxed its rules in 2003, some impediments remain.
