For many law school graduates above the age of 40, practicing at a large law firm just isn't in the cards. Lawyers entering the legal job market as a second career often don't like the idea of the hours required at a large firm or taking assignments from a much-younger superior. And big firms may not be interested in middle-aged first-year associates. Small firms or solo practice offer older grads more choices.
