Senate questioning of Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito Jr. ended Thursday with several Democratic senators voicing deep reservations about his views. They did not rule out a filibuster to block his confirmation.
“I remain very troubled,” Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) told Alito, depicting him as a non-mainstream judge who “almost always chooses the rightward course.”
