Folks love to bemoan the lack of civility in modern politics but it was hardly a tea party back in 1804 when U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Chase was being impeached (an effort spearheaded by Thomas Jefferson) and tried (a proceeding presided over by Aaron Burr, under indictment himself for the dueling death of Alexander Hamilton). Could impeachment become a reality on the judicial scene again? It's not impossible, as the judicial branch becomes increasingly subject to political pressures.
