a missouri woman who lost her arm and leg after a power line fell on her settled for $12 million on April 25. After an ice storm caused a power outage at their home, the Monroe family visited the home of a relative. As the family was getting in their car to return home, a clamp on a live power line above, weighed down by ice, gave way, causing the line to fall on the family car. Melanie Monroe's arm and leg were burned so badly they had to be amputated. Her husband and two children sustained minor injuries.
