Two federal appeals court chief judges are urging Senate leadership to act on President Barack Obama’s forthcoming U.S. Supreme Court nominee, according to a letter released on Monday by Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont.

The letter, dated March 10, was signed by retired judges John Gibbons, a Republican appointee and the former chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and Patricia Wald, a Democratic appointee and the former chief judge of the D.C. Circuit.
