Square Inc., the San Francisco-based financial technology company behind the sleek, white credit card readers found in coffee shops and boutiques, went public at the end of 2015 with a closely watched initial public offering.

Co-founded by Twitter Inc.’s Jack Dorsey, who serves as the top boss of both companies, Square set out to help small businesses “never miss a sale.”
