MIAMI — A federal judge kept alive economic-loss claims against Takata Corp. and Honda Motor Co. Ltd. over allegedly defective air bags in a multidistrict ­litigation.

On Dec. 2, U.S. District Judge Federico Moreno ruled that plaintiffs claims for violations of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act could move forward in the Miami federal court proceedings. Moreno also ruled that Takata’s motion to strike the putative national class action was ­premature.
