The former deputy director of the U.S. Office of Special Counsel is suing his former employer for information about a 2013 report that he claims contained “false and slanderous assertions of fact.”

The Office of Special Counsel is an independent agency that protects federal whistleblowers and investigates other prohibited actions against government personnel. James Renne served as deputy director of the office from January 2004 to August 2005.
