TRENTON, N.J. — A federal judge has dismissed a large part of the multidistrict litigation over claims that Pfizer Inc. schemed to keep generic Lipitor off the market.

The ruling by U.S. District Judge Peter Sheridan on September 5 stemmed from a motion to dismiss the claims brought by direct purchasers, including Walgreens Co., Safeway Inc., The Kroger Co. and Value Drug Co.
