One day after a California appellate court struck down a ban on medical marijuana dispensaries in unincorporated Los Angeles County, a separate panel of the same court upheld an ordinance limiting the number of collectives in the city of Los Angeles.

On Tuesday, a panel of the Second District Court of Appeal reversed a preliminary injunction against the city ordinance, which limited the number and location of medical marijuana dispensaries within its borders. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Anthony Mohr granted the injunction in 2010 based in part on state law pre-emption.
