A Minnesota federal judge has ruled that U.S. Steel Corp. did not violate the federal law requiring advance notice of plant closings because the depth of the recent economic crisis was not foreseeable. Although the company did not comply with the provisions of the law, the judge found that the unforeseeable business circumstances exception to the law applies.
