New York federal judge Denny Chin rejected a settlement between Google Inc. and authors and publishers that would have allowed the online giant to build the world’s largest digital library. The settlement, Chin ruled, “would simply go too far” in giving Google the right to exploit published works.

WEDDINGS MUST WAIT

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit has turned down a renewed request by proponents of same-sex marriage that it lift its stay and allow same-sex weddings to resume in California. In a one-sentence order the court denied the plaintiffs’ motion “at this time.”
