Glenn Fine’s office is starting to show the telltale signs of an imminent departure. No boxes litter the office floor yet, but the walls and bookcases have a few vacant spaces where mementos from the last decade may have resided.

Fine, who has served as the inspector general at the U.S. Department of Justice since 2001, is leaving the office on Jan. 28. “It has been a great job, a great run,” Fine said. “I’ve been doing it for 10 and a half years and I’ve been in the office 16 years. The time has come for a new chapter.”
