METLIFE INC. (New York): Nicholas Latrenta has been named general counsel at the company, succeeding James Lipscomb, who retired after almost 38 years of service. As general counsel, Latrenta will lead the company’s global legal operations and oversee the government and industry relations department and corporate ethics and compliance group. Latrenta had been serving as senior chief counsel at the company since March 2007.

MILLER, CANFIELD, PADDOCK AND STONE (Detroit): Shusheng Wang, co-director of global business at the firm and member of the China practice group, has been promoted from senior counsel to partner. Wang focuses his practice on global corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, dispute resolution, China business counseling and U.S. taxation of international operations.
