James will focus on advising corporate human resources departments on employee hiring, terminations, layoffs and wage-and-hour issues. Previously, James was the senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of SAGE Publications in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

DLA Piper : Thomas Dick joins the firm’s tax practice as partner in the New York office. Dick will focus on international tax matters for corporations, hedge funds, international pension funds, charities and foreign governments. Previously, Dick was a tax attorney at KPMG.
