Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg, a Chicago-based law firm formerly with about 200 lawyers, has cut nearly 10% of its attorneys as a result of the downturn in the economy. The firm eliminated 19 associates and partners on Feb. 20, said Jerry Biederman, the firm's managing partner. He said he hopes the work force reduction is a long-term fix and not a short-term solution.
