Western Refining Inc. and Giant Industries Inc. promised to take on the Federal Trade Commission after the agency voted to sue if the companies pursue their $1.4 billion merger. In a press release following the vote Tuesday, the companies declared that the FTC's effort to stop the merger "is without basis in fact or law and that the companies intend to vigorously challenge the FTC in court."
