A federal judge on Thursday called out lawyers representing Smith & Wesson for minimizing a deadly mass shooting in Highland Park, Illinois, in a brief that asks the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit to keep lawsuits challenging the gun maker’s marketing tactics out of state court.

Smith & Wesson’s brief states that Robert Crimo III fired at a crowd at a July 4, 2022, parade from a rooftop, “killing or wounding several people.”
