The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s enforcement chief on Wednesday defended the agency’s actions against cryptocurrency firms as “consistent” and “principled” amid criticism that the SEC has unfairly targeted bitcoin. 

“There are some that question our authority, hoping for a different regulatory regime altogether for their industry,” Gurbir Grewal said. “And there are others that question our motivations. And in rare cases, there are also those that question the integrity with which we approach our work.”
