The U.S. Supreme Court agreed Friday to consider former President Donald Trump’s appeal of a Colorado Supreme Court decision excluding him from the state’s primary ballot under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment over his role in the events of Jan. 6, 2021.

In an unsigned order late Friday afternoon, the court agreed to fast-track the politically explosive case by setting an expedited briefing schedule and oral arguments for Feb. 8. The move comes just two days after Trump filed his petition appealing the state high court’s decision, which has been paused pending further action by the U.S. Supreme Court.
