Several U.S. appeals courts said this week that oral arguments and other activities will largely carry on as usual if the government shuts down, but some warned of significant harm to operations if Congress fails to pass an appropriations bill extending funding past Saturday.

“Even though the court operations continue, we anticipate significant impact,” Lyle Cayce, the court clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, said.
