Lawsuits over Colorado’s most devastating wildfire are expected to explode after an investigative report released last month attributed the blaze in part to power lines owned by electric utility Xcel Energy Inc.

The so-called Marshall Fire charred through 6,000 acres after sparking on Dec. 30, 2021, destroying more than 1,000 homes and properties. Two people died. But the cause of the fire remained uncertain until June 8, when the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office released its investigative report.
