The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday affirmed the federal government's broad authority to set the nation's immigration policy, reinstating new deportation guidelines by the Biden administration that were challenged by Republican states.
Texas and Louisiana had sued over the new guidelines in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, which, following a trial, vacated the guidelines nationwide.
