U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. on Friday stayed until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday a lower federal court’s order limiting the public’s access to an abortion drug.

Parties opposing the stay have until noon Tuesday to file their objections. Alito’s order followed a request by the manufacturer of Mifepristone that the high court step in to block a U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas decision — largely upheld by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit — that blocked distribution of the drug, manufactured by Danco Laboratories.
